Term reflections

For term two, my highlight was swimming because I didn’t know how to swim but now I know how to swim. My highlight for this term were fractions because on term one I didn’t know fractions.

My lowlight for this term was  netball because I got hit by someone on the court. My lowlight for this term is music because I always get sent out of the room.

I am looking forward to rugby league because I have never played rugby league in my life. I am also looking forward to our inquiry about Asia because I don’t even know anything about Asia.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                

Fractions

WALT: Find fractions of a quantity

1. Matthew is a huge rugby league fan and has 28 NRL cards. One quarter of them are Melbourne Storm cards. How many of them are Melbourne Storm cards?

STRATEGY: 28÷4=7. 7×1=7

SOLUTION SENTENCE:

There is 7 Melbourne Storm cards.

2. In Mark’s class there are 18 children. ⅓ of them are boys. How many boys are in Mark’s class?

STRATEGY:18÷3=6. 6×1=6

SOLUTION SENTENCE:

There are 6 boys in Mark’s class.

3. Luke has 32 first cousins. ¾ of them live in Auckland and the rest of them live in Wellington. How many of Luke’s cousins live in Auckland?

STRATEGY: 32÷4=8. 8×3=24

SOLUTION SENTENCE:

24 of Luke’s cousins are in Auckland.

Week 8 Reflection

My highlight for week 8 is maths because I learned word problems.

My lowlights for week 8 is rugby because there was a fight.

I am looking forward for swimming on Monday because we haven’t swum this week.

I need to think about consequences of my actions because I almost had a fight today with this boy.

I can show love to the homeless.

Jonny's Visit

On Tuesday Jonny Wartman came to room 6 at Saint Pius X Catholic School. He came to tell us how he became a graffiti artist. He also told us where he came from. He was from Christchurch. He told us lots of stuff about himself. After that we went outside and sat under the shade. Then he told us that he was going to do a picture, But he was going to spray paint. When he finished we had to take a photo of him and us. My favourite part was when he was painting with his spray cans. It was fun to have a graffiti artist.
